1: On this date in 1983, Jerry Rice from Miss Valley St caught an NCAA record 24 passes  against Souther U.    


4: On this date in 1919, Ok 157 Kingfisher Coll 0. The series ended that day, as 2 years earlier, the Sooners won 179-0.


5: On this date in 1996, Dante Brown from Div III Marietta rushed for 441 yds on 45 carries against Baldwin-Wallace.


7: On this date in 1916, GT 222 Cumberland 0. This is the most points scored in the history of college football. GT never made a 1st down, as they scored within 4 plays on every possession.


7: On this date in 1972, USC 30 Stanford 21. This was the closet game for the 12-0 1972 USC Trojans, led by Lynn Swan and and Anthony Davis & won by average of 28. They were the 1st team to be named No. 1 on every ballot of Coaches and AP Poll.


8: On this date in 1921, Harold W. Arlin announced the 1st live college football game, broadcast by KDKA Radio. Pittsburgh 21 West Virginia 13.


10: On this date in 1917, Detroit 145 Toledo 0. This was the first college football game for the Toledo Rockets.


10: On this date in 1936, The Ohio St Univ marching band dotted the "i" for the 1st time. It occurs at exactly 16 measures from the end of "Le Regiment."


14: On this date in 1961, Texas 28 Oklahoma 7. That year marked the 1st of 4 consecutive years the Longhorns had either 0 or 1 loss. 


16: On this date in 1897, the first game of the Michigan-Ohio State rivalry was played. The score: Michigan 34 Ohio St 0. 


18: On this date in 1924, the Original Ride of the 4 Horseman occurred, 

inspired by Grantland Rice famous words. 


18:  On this date in 1924, Red Grange turned in the most famous 12 minutes in the history of college football. Scoring the 1st 4 times he touched the ball, he amassed 265 yds before the first quarter ended. Illinois 39 Michigan 14. Red Grange: 402 yds.


18: On this date in 1997 Willamette 27 Linfield 0. Liz Heaston became the 1st woman to play & score in a college football game.


21: In 1896, headgear was first used in a college football game by George "Rose" Barclay, HB, Lafayette College.


21: On this date in 1922, King’s College 206 Lenoir College 0, marking the second most points scored by a team in the history of college football. 


22: On this date in 2011, Michigan State 37, Wisconsin 31. Spartan's QB Kirk Cousins 44-yd game ending TD to Keith Nichol after it glanced off teammate BJ Cunningham's face mask secured the win. 


23: On this date in 1926, the Miami Hurricanes played their 1st college football game. A freshman team lead Miami to a 7-0 over Rollins College. The team went undefeated, 8-0.


25: On this date in 1884, Lafayette 56 Lehigh 0, 1st game of the longest uninterrupted college football rivalry.


25: On this date in 1947, Columbia 21 Army 20. Army entered the game 3-0-1, on a 32-game unbeaten streak and 3 consecutive National Championships.


26: On this date in 2013,  Western Connecticut State's Octavias McKoy broke the NCAA single-game rushing record with 455 yards in a 55-35 defeat of Worcester State.


27:  On this date in 2007, Trinity 28 Millsaps 24. On the last play, Trinity threw 15 lateral passes to score on a 61 yard TD. The play took over 1 minute, considered the longest play ever.


28: On this date in 1950, Pat Brady from Nevada-Reno had a punt of 99 yards against Loyola Marymount, setting an NCAA record that simply can't be broken and has yet to be tied.


28:  On this date in 1978, Joe Delaney rushed for 263 yds in the 2nd half, an NCAA record. Northwestern State defeated Nicholls State, 28-18. 


29: On this date in 1904, Minnesota 16 Nebraska 12. This game marked the end of a 10 game consecutive shutout streak by the Gophers & proved to be the only points the Gophers would give up all season. The week before Minnesota beat Grinell 146-0.


29: On this date in 1921, Centre 6 Harvard 0. Centre, with a student body of 274, ended Harvard's 25 game unbeaten streak. The Praying Colonels win was one of the biggest upsets up to that point in time in college football.


29: On this date in 1988, RB Barry Sanders, Ok St, rushed for 320 yds, setting off a 5 game stretch where he rushed for over 200 yds every game, over 300 yds 3 times.


31: On this date in 2015, Miami, Fl 30, Duke 27. The Hurricanes lateraled the ball 8 times to return the kickoff 91 yds for a game winning TD.
